Introductions

 

Recognition for Barbara Jaeger, NENA 2nd VP

The Chapter celebrated the victory of Barbara Jaeger’s election to NENA 2nd VP.  Barbara won the election with 71% of the vote!

 

Reports:

National NENA/State Report Barbara Jaeger

The National Board is moving forward, exploring options in regards to holding a joint National NENA and APCO convention. The vendors are strongly in favor of this possibility.

NENA is pursuing ANSI accreditation.

The 2010 Conference preliminary numbers indicate it was a successful Conference.

The new Western Regional Director is Chip Yarborough who will be attending our State Training Conference.

The National Conference for 2011 is in Minneapolis Minnesota.

Law Enforcement Committee – Tonia Rogers

The committee is moving forward with the identification of certified instructors and their availability with the goal of utilizing these people to present low cost/no cost training to the members.

 

Fire/EMS Committee– Jim Long

Technical Committee – Scott Tillman

The 700 interoperability project is moving forward. The State adopted the National Standard regarding channel link naming of the VHF/UHF frequencies. This standard allows for the use of common names for Mutual Aid channels.

 

Frequency Advisors – Scott Tillman & Mark Schroeder

The Broadband changes allow the government some control over the internet.  Mark is presenting a class at the State Training Conference covering this subject.

Mesa has obtained a waiver and is moving forward with a prototype release.

The advisors have worked with very few applications/licensing issues in the recent months.

Old Business:

State Training Conference – Sheila Blevins

The conference is moving forward. All of the sessions and presenters have been chosen and scheduled. Please encourage everyone to register and make room reservations to help meet the room block. A motion was made to hold a golf tournament with the proceeds of the tournament to benefit the scholarship fund. The motion received a 2nd, the membership voted and the motion carried.

A motion was made that the Award recipients should receive their registration to the State training conference instead of a western regional since budgets are tight and most are not able to attend out of state conferences. The motion was 2nd and carried.

         

NENA National Training Conference

          Sandra Gilstad  - attended the Chapter Leadership forum. The restrictions of the Board regarding lobbying efforts were discussed. The States ability to sweep the 9-1-1 Funds was discussed. The Board is recommending the Government panel place restrictions on the State’s ability to sweep those funds. Barbara Jaeger and Sandra Gilstad previewed an instructional video produced by the Texas Chapter. After discussion, a motion was made to purchase 30 DVDs for the purpose of resale at the State Training conference. The motion received a 2nd and carried the vote.

         

New Business:

Purchase of Training Materials by the Chapter – Sandra Gilstad made a suggestion for the Chapter to purchase training materials for load usage by members. After discussion, it was determined that a committee will be formed to gather the information obtained from the Law Enforcement Committee as well as a list of offered materials from organizations available for use.

 

PSConnect – Karen Allen outlined the availability and usage benefits of this online networking tool. You do not have to be a member to use the program.

 

APCO National – Sheila  (Who is going and Dinner count) Karen and Sandy will contact National to obtain a list of individuals from Arizona so that an invitation can be extended to attend a chapter dinner.
