Arizona TERT – Sandy Gilstad

The Arizona group is working to establish criteria for membership selection. AZ TERT is working to define the role AZ APCO-NENA will play in the organization. After discussion, it was decided that AZ TERT would benefit by operating under the umbrella of AZ APCO-NENA.

 

Scholarship Golf Tournament – Julie Heimkes

Julie briefed the board on the progress of the tournament planning. Julie will update the registration information to include individual registrants. Julie also enlisted the help of all Board members to garner sponsorships, raffle prizes and individual golfers to increase the number of golfing participants. Information will be distributed via PSConnect as well as the Arizona ListServe.

 

Fire Committee – Jim Long

Jim provided an overview of the activities of the committee to include Pima, Pinal, Maricopa, Yuma and Coconino counties.  Jim brought forward the request by Coconino county for assistance with ideas and support for moving their county forward with Phase II capabilities. Jim advised of a FEMA mass casualty event occurring at Sky Harbor airport Friday December 10.

 

Julie Heimkes advised that Jack Daniel will be present at the December meeting to present the pins for the Arizona Chapter. Julie brought forward for discussion the thought of having vendors make contributions to the Chapter in order to present at the General Meetings. This discussion will be continued at the December General meeting.

 

Debbie Henry Retirement – Sandy Gilstad

Debbie Henry Arizona DPS is retiring at the end of the year with 32 years of service.  Sheila contacted Kim Collins of DPS to obtain employment information so that Debbie can be recognized at the December meeting.

 

 2011 Western Regional meeting – Board Discussion

It was decided that the Chapter would send three representatives to the 2011 Western Regional in Ontario California. Members under consideration and pending agency approval are Sandy Gilstad, Tonia Rogers and Patty Spencer.

 

9-1-1 Goes to Washington – Board Discussion

It was decided the Chapter would send two representatives to this event. The President, Sandy Gilstad and Past President, Karen Allen were approved by the Board to attend.

 

ENP and RPL Scholarship Requests – Sheila Blevins

The Chapter received two requests for scholarships: One ENP scholarship from Carla Reece and one RPL Scholarship from Sheila Blevins.  It was decided that the ENP has historical support and will be extended to Carla. The chapter is still discussing the merits of supporting RPL scholarships and that discussion will be added to the December General Meeting agenda.
