Member Retention Survey

Many of us have just finished our statewide conferences and have seen our attendance drop in the past few years. We have heard from some of you about ideas of how to get your attendance up or help with the cost for some folks coming from smaller counties with no training or travel budget. Some chapters offer scholarships, while others give certificates for free registration the following year in their raffle drawings or prizes. Many chapters have combined their state conferences with other organizations to help with cost. What are some ideas your chapter has come up with to help with attendance? What has worked or what hasn't worked? Share your ideas by logging on to PSConnect.  Once in PSConnect click on Resources, All Libraries, then select APCO Open Forum.  In the search box type “We Want to Hear Your Ideas” and it should bring you to the message.  To give us your ideas, on the left side of the page click on “Reply to Sender” and you will be able to send them to Tasha Todd who will put together the ideas for the Member and Chapter Services Committee.

We appreciate your time but more importantly we will appreciate your ideas.

In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.
—Benjamin Franklin, 1789

Although death and taxes may be the ultimate certainties of life, the absolute certainties of next-generation mission critical communications are data and IP.

Whether discussing next-gen PSAPs, communication networks or notification systems, the conversation inevitably turns to the requirement to quickly and efficiently process large quantities of data and the need for the flexibility, survivability and cost-effectiveness of IP communications.
This presentation will address how agencies should prepare for this new paradigm to take maximum advantage of the benefits it will provide.
